**Warning Major Spoilers for Avengers: Endgame Below**
Avengers: Endgame hit theaters with early showings on Thursday, and has been released to theaters across the nation on Friday. One of the biggest questions was just how were the Avengers going to defeat Thanos. Well, we finally have an answer.
As seen in one of the clips promoting the film, the Avengers plan an attack to take down Thanos. This strategy plan takes place towards the beginning of the film, and after discovering Thanos’ location, the Avengers suit up and plan to take the Infinity Stones back from Thanos with the help of Captain Marvel.
The plan hits a snag. Thanos used the Infinity Gauntlet a second time, but this time he used it to destroy the Infinity Stones. When the Avengers arrive on the Garden planet, where Thanos has been enjoying his retirement, he is weakened. Half of his entire is burned to a crisp from the use of the Infinity Gauntlet. The Avengers which include Nebula, Captain Marvel, Captain America, Rocket Raccoon, War Machine, Black Widow, and Bruce Banner easily subdue him.
When Thanos reveals that he has destroyed the Infinity Stones, and Nebula confirms he is not a liar, Thor takes action and lobs off Thanos’ head with Stormbreaker. He makes sure he went for the head this time. Thus ends the mighty Mad Titan less than an hour into the movie.
However, another Thanos would rise to challenge the Avengers. Due to some time travel shenanigans, and shared computer networks, Thanos is able to discover just how the Avengers plan on bringing back their fallen comrades. The Thanos from 2014 and the original Guardians of the Galaxy movie is able to thwart the Avengers’ plan. He uses Nebula of 2014’s shared network with the current day Nebula to decipher the Avengers’ plans. He then is able to send the 2014 Nebula in place of the current one and open a time portal for Thanos’ ship and army to enter into modern day.
However, the Avengers are able to bring back their comrades just before Thanos’ ship launches an all out attack on the Avengers base. A massive battle ensues as Thanos’ army faces down the Avengers and their own resurrected army. In a mad scramble to get the Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos comes up short. Tony Stark outwits Thanos and claims the Gauntlet. He then snaps his fingers.
Thanos’ entire army gets dusted. As for the Mad Titan, he sits down and turns to ashes.
And that’s how the Avengers defeat Thanos in Avengers: Endgame.
