As promised, Marvel Studios dropped the brand new Avengers: Infinity War trailer.
The trailer starts off with a voice over from Gamora which explains what Thanos’ true mission is. “The entire time I knew him, he only ever had one goal. To whipe out half the universe. If he gets all the Infinity Stones, he can do it with the snap of his fingers. Just like that.”
Tony Stark also lays out his plan to stop Thanos. In typical Tony fashion, the plan is to use what he wants against him, which are the Infinity Stones being held by Doctor Strange and Vision. However, Star-Lord isn’t so keen on Tony’s plan. He thinks it “sucks.” He offers to come up with the same plan so it will be “really good.”
Some of the craziest moments are when we see Thanos in his full battle armor as he takes what appears to be a young Gamora by the hand. We even get a creepy Thanos voice confirming his goals, “When I’m done, half of humanity will still exist.” We then see Thor getting his skull crushed by Thanos which leads into our first real good look at the Black Order and Loki. Proxima Midnight stands on the left with the Ebony Maw, Corvus Glaive, and Cull Obsidian standing on the opposite side of Loki.
We then see Thanos crush the Tesseract and acquire the Space Stone. We get a few action sequences. Then we see the Ebony Maw torturing Doctor Strange. Before it switches to the Battle in Wakanda where the Hulkbuster gets swarmed by Thanos’ Outriders. Maybe one of the craziest moments is we see Thanos tell Tony Stark, “I hope they remember you.” He then leaps into a killing blow. But before we see him make contact it switches to a different scene where surprisingly Captain America is able to stave off a massive punch from a Power Stone empowered Thanos. However, it’s unclear if he’s actually using the Power Stone. Regardless it’s an incredible feat of strength for Captain America.
The trailer ends with a funny bit between Spider-Man and Doctor Strange.
The trailer definitely hints that the movie, despite the impending doom, will maintain Marvel’s classic humor with high flying action. It looks absolutely epic!
Avengers: Infinity War comes to theaters on April 27, 2018.
