Actress Mindy Kaling known for her role as Kelly Kapoor on The Office, recently confirmed she’s had discussions with Marvel Studios about bringing Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Kaling spoke to MTV News, “I think the people I’ve spoken to [at] Marvel about it are so excited about the character, and I think that they’re trying to figure out what to do with it, and I told them I would help in any way, because I truly love her.” She added, “But they seemed really interested, and I think they will probably do something.”

Kaling hinted that Ms. Marvel might be launched on the upcoming Disney+ platform, “No that there’s, like, this streaming platform with them it might be something like that.” Kaling continued, But I think they understand how much there is the excitement. Riz, me, every different Desi actor was very excited.”
The Riz, Kaling refers to is Star Wars Rogue One actor Riz Ahmed, who asked last May when Marvel Studios wanted him, Mindy Kaling, and Kumail Nanjiani to get started on the Ms. Marvel screenplay.
So when do @MarvelStudios want me @mindykaling @kumailn to get started on the MsMarvel screenplay ?

When asked who she thinks should play Kamala Khan, Kaling responded, “You know, I feel it might need to be an unknown.” She added, “Right. It might need to be an unknown. Wouldn’t that be exciting?”
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige confirmed they would introduce Kamala Khan in an interview last May. Feige stated:
“We are doing Captain Marvel right now. Captain Marvel is shooting right now with Brie Larson. Ms. Marvel which is another character in the comic books, the Muslim hero, who is inspired by Captain Marvel is definitely, sort of, in the works. We have plans for that once we’ve introduced Captain Marvel to the world.”
The Kamala Khan version of Ms. Marvel is not the first version of Ms. Marvel in the Marvel Universe. In fact, she’s the fourth person to use the moniker. The moniker first belonged to Carol Danvers. Sharon Ventura and Karla Sofen would also use the moniker before Kamala Khan adopted it.
Kamala Khan is a relatively new Marvel superhero. She was created by Kelly Sue DeConnick and Scott Hepburn. She made her first appearance in Captain Marvel #14 in 2013. She would go on to receive her own series in April of 2014. She would eventually join the Champions as well as the Avengers in All-New, All-Different Avengers.
Kamala Khan is actually an Inhuman in the comics and received her powers after she was exposed to the Terrigen Mist. Her powers include the ability to stretch her body in any way imaginable like Mr. Fantastic of the Fantastic Four. She also has the ability to increase and decrease her size like Ant-Man. Kamala also has the ability to shape-shift like the Skrulls.
And interestingly enough she wore the iconic Ms. Marvel costume when she gained her powers.
Are you interested in seeing Kamala Khan join the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Do you think Marvel Studios should do a Kamala Khan live-action adaptation before Monica Rambeau, who they introduced in the Captain Marvel movie?
