This morning, Anthony Mackie joined Good Morning America to talk about Avengers: Infinity War. While he was on set they also revealed a new fight sequence between Captain America, Black Widow, and Mackie’s Falcon against Thanos’ Black Order members, Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive.
Take a look:
Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive get absolutely wrecked in the short clip. The clip starts off with Black Widow making short work of Corvus Glaive. She does a neat flip maneuver then kicks Glaive in the stomach before smacking in the face which sends him flying. As she stands above him with what appears to be Proxima Midnight’s spear, Midnight shows up and somehow calls the spear to her. She catches Widow unaware, and is about to kill her. Fortunately, Captain America shows up and he appears to be using Corvus Glaive’s weapon. Midnight holds off Black Widow and Captain America for a few brief seconds before Falcon shows up and kicks her in the face, which sends her flying.
Proxima Midnight then crawls over to Corvus Glaive and tells him to get up. Glaive responds, “I can’t.” Then Black Widow says, “We don’t want to kill you, but we will.”

This is a huge let down for me. Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive are two of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe. Corvus Glaive even takes over Thanos’ empire and rules the Black Quadrant. Midnight and Glaive even teamed up to take down the Hulk during the Infinity storyline.
In one of Glaive’s first missions under Thanos he is sent after the X-Men. He easily subdues them and takes out Wolverine with one spear thrust.
And then there’s Proxima Midnight. Her first mission in the comics was to New York. She completely incapacitates Monica Rambeau the former Captain Marvel who is now going by Spectrum. She then proceeds to manhandle the current line-up of Mighty Avengers which included Superior Spider-Man and Luke Cage. She even gives Luke Cage a concussion and cracks his ribs! The only reason she doesn’t wipe the floor with them is because Thanos calls her away to conquer Atlantis.
It’s disheartening to see these powerful Marvel villains getting easily tossed around by Black Widow and Falcon. Neither of them have any kind of super powers. How in the world is Black Widow going to take down Glaive with a couple of kicks?
The only possibility I can think of is Black Widow might not actually be Black Widow. We know the Skrulls are showing up in Captain Marvel. It’s possible Black Widow might actually be a Skrull in disguise. Skrulls are Marvel Comics villains who have the ability to shapeshift. In fact, the Skrulls led a Secret Invasion of Earth in the hopes of making the planet their new homeworld after the destruction of the Skrull Throneworld.
Do you think Black Widow could be a Skrull? What do you make of these seemingly weak versions of Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive?
