Sony Pictures released their second trailer for the upcoming Morbius film starring Jared Leto.
Take a look.
In preparation for the new trailer, Sony released an official synopsis. It begins, “Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble.”
It continues, “While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?”
Not only does the trailer feature a crack at Venom, but it also gives us another shot of Michael Keaton’s character.
Keaton was featured in a stinger scene of the original Morbius trailer released back in January 2020.
Based on the trailers, it’s still unclear if Keaton is playing his Marvel Cinematic Universe character of Vulture. However, Keaton confirmed he is indeed playing Adrian Toomes in Morbius.
He discussed the filmmakers explaining how his character fits into the fictional universes in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter back in August.
He said, “I’m nodding like I know what the f*** they’re talking about. I go, ‘Uh-huh.’ And I’m thinking, ‘You may as well be explaining quantum physics right now to me. All I know is I just know my guy. And I know the basics.’”
“So finally, they were looking at me, and they just started laughing. They said, ‘You don’t know what we’re talking about, do you?’ I said, ‘No, I don’t, no idea what you’re talking about,'” he added.
Along with Leto and Keaton, the film also features Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, and Al Madrigal.
It is directed by Daniel Espinosa based off a screen story and screenplay by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. The movie is produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach and Lucas Foster. Louise Rosner and Emma Ludbrook are executive producers.
It is expected to hit theaters on January 28, 2022.
