Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster might have been one of the stand-out characters from last year’s Thor: Ragnarok. And we are getting to see more of his hilarious take on the character thanks to some deleted and extended scenes!
These new scenes are featured on the Thor: Ragnarok Blu-ray release and to no one’s surprise they’ve made their way online already. The clips show Jeff Goldblum’s eccentric, and hilariously self-aware Grandmaster in all his glory.
So let’s just get to the clips, shall we?
In the first clip which runs a little more than two minutes. We get to see the ruler of Sakaar getting a bit agitated by some alien-like bats. These bat-like creatures are swarming around as he attempts to make the acquaintance of Thor. In his attempt at a funny bond villain poor Grandmaster continues to get interrupted by some flying pests who cannot seem to be dispatched by his men.
In the next clip, we get to see Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster discuss what certain hand motions with his chief of security, Topaz. In a frustrated manner, he details what some of his motions mean. Topaz’s responses to some of the motions are absolutely hilarious. But not to be outdone, Goldblum’s Grandmaster would make fun of some of her ridiculous responses. It’s quite hilarious as he creates a motion for “I’d like desert.”
Take a look below, do you agree with the Grandmaster’s hand symbols?
Jeff Goldblum is a talented actor with some good range. He does an excellent job in Thor: Ragnarok of putting a comedic twist on his truly sinister character.
After looking at these scenes and the movie I can understand why they were edited out. Though fun to watch, they didn’t really move the story forward and could have come off as a bit bloated. But I’m glad we get to see them here.
I don’t know about you, but now I want my own copy of Thor: Ragnarok, which will be available on the Digital HD on February 20th. Physical copies of the film will be given a wide release March 6th.
