Paul Bettany: Avengers: Infinity War Is The “Biggest Movie I’ve Ever Made”

According to Avengers: Age of Ultron star Paul Bettany, filming with Anthony and Joe Russo’s Avengers: Infinity War feels like the biggest movie ever. In Avengers: Infinity War, we will finally get to see the culmination of ten years of connected movies within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A process many other studios have tried to mimic with mixed results.

Marvel is about to unleash its latest feat of strength with Avengers: Infinity War. Movies in the past have had multiple heroes, and characters from different stories share the screen. The difference is with Marvel is that each of the main Avengers has had their own movie, development, and part to play in a much larger and greater story.

During an interview with Collider, Paul Bettany opened up about the scope of Avengers Infinity War. He said that it felt like being in the biggest movie ever.

It felt like the biggest movie that I’ve ever made and will ever make, and we’ve still got to make the [next] one. It’s f***ing crazy! I would come in, often at dawn because of the length of my make-up, and there would just be all of these twinkling lights. It looked like a town, but it wasn’t. It was where all of the trailers were. It was just massive. It’s massive! The call sheets are bananas. When you see the list of cast members, you’re like, ‘How is anybody else making a film in Hollywood, this year? How are they getting films financed? Everybody is in this!’

Bettany then touched on  the how the directors have to lead the project they’re all involved in, and its effect on cast and crew:

[The Russos] are so great. They’ve got so much trust, from the cast and from Kevin Feige and Marvel, in general. They’re incredibly on top of the day, when you show up, and they’re very open to your input and collaboration. They were incredibly relaxed. It was a wonderful, relaxed set that was stress-free. It was a stress-free set, which was brilliant.

Avengers: Infinity War finished filming over the summer. For the cast and crew, the break is over as they returned to Atlanta to start production on the untitled Avengers 4.
