REPORT: Matt Reeves’s The Batman Movie Already Has a Replacement for Ben Affleck

A new report from the John Campea Show reveals Matt Reeves will recast Batman for his upcoming The Batman film. This report comes after Ben Affleck hinted he would leave the role after Justice League.

After taking a question from a fan, “Do you think they will use Flashpoint to reboot Batman?” Campea revealed Matt Reeves already has an actor in mind for his upcoming The Batman movie.

I’m hesitant to say anything, but I talked to a Hollywood producer yesterday and they gave me the name of who Matt Reeves wants [to replace Ben Affleck] as Batman. And, I’ve got to be honest with you, that name caught me a little bit by surprise. I called somebody else later in the day, saying: ‘Hey, I heard this, is there any validity to this?’ And they said: ‘Well, Matt does want him…’ But that doesn’t mean it’s going to happen. There’s been no movement or anything like that. It doesn’t mean anything is going to happen.

He does emphasize this would be a recast and not a reboot.

I think it’s just going to be a pure recast, I really do. They are just going to go with a pure recast for it. I don’t think they are going to do anything too terribly convoluted with Flashpoint. This isn’t an animated show with people who are comic book nerds and would fully grasp what they are doing there. This is the general movie going audience and I think something like that is a little bit too sweaty, if I can use that term, to go into.

He begins talking about The Batman around the 28 minute mark.
