After rumors that Disney was expecting their upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story film to fail, a new report indicates the film will undergo reshoots. The report indicates these reshoots will take place from the “end of January and will be going on for three weeks or so into Feb (at least).”
This means the film will have finished shooting with just three months to go before it is expected to hit theaters on May 25, 2018. It’s hard to imagine it won’t get delayed. In fact, we haven’t received an official image from Lucasfilm although director Ron Howard has been telling fans to have patience.
He responded to fan who asked about a potential trailer for the upcoming film saying, “Hang in there :-). Now that ep 8 is out there it won’t be long.”

Howard replaced directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller halfway through production. Once he took over, all reports indicated he reshot most of the film anyways. This could mean these new reshoots are reshoots for the reshoots!
It might make sense for Disney and Lucasfilm to give Howard and his team more time to finish up the movie especially after a lot of the negative reactions fans had about Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It could be devastating to the Star Wars brand if Solo: A Star Wars Story completely underwhelms. I’d rather see a fully completed film on screen instead of one that is rushed to production to meet a studio deadline. We just saw what happened with Justice League due to rushed production, studio deadlines, and multiple directors. We don’t need a repeat.
What do you think of this news? Do you think it’s good they are trying to make changes to give us a better Star Wars movies or do you think the timeframe will cause a rush job and potentially give us a dud of a movie?
