Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead and Invincible recently claimed that actor Steven Yuen will play Sentry in an upcoming Marvel Studios film.

The Sentry returns to the real world in Sentry Vol. 3 #2 “Sentry World: Part 2 of 5” (2018), Marvel Comics. Words by Jeff Lemire, art by Kim Jacinto, Joshua Cassara, Rain Beredo, and Travis Lanham.

While responding to a question from a viewer on a livestream with artist David Finch about the Sentry Kirkman stated, “My good friend Steven Yuen is playing the Sentry in a movie.”

He elaborated, “He called me. He went in for a costume fitting. I don’t think this is a spoiler or anything that’ll get anybody in trouble. I don’t know, maybe, we’ll see. I don’t care. I don’t work for Marvel. What are they going to do to me? He called me. He said, ‘I just came back from a costume fitting for the Sentry. I guess I only do superheroes that are yellow and blue.'”

Kirkman added, “He said he was at the costume fitting and was like, ‘Ah crap! I forgot Invincible was yellow and blue!'”

It was rumored back in February that Yuen would play Sentry. The Weekly Planet podcast co-host James Clement claimed, “I spoke to somebody at Marvel – not a higher up necessarily – and this is the quote that they sent me: ‘We don’t even know who he’s playing, but my guess is Sentry, since there’s been whispers of that casting circulating a bit.”

“So, he’s going to be in the Thunderbolts as Sentry, potentially,” Clement added. “That’s what somebody’s telling me who heard from somebody else.”

Scooper CanWeGetSomeToast noted,” So it looks like it’s NOT an ‘IF’. Now I REALLY want a Super Saiyan power up sequence for him.”

He was responding to a previous he made that stated, “IF Steven Yuen if Sentry, I hope his hair stays black and turns blonde when he powers up. Our first live action Super Saiyan could be him.”

In March, scooper Jeff Sneider would also claim that Yuen was playing the character. During an appearance on The Hot Mic podcast he stated, “Steven Yeun, right. We know he’s playing Sentry, right?”

It’s believed that Yuen’s Sentry will arrive in the Thunberbolts movie given Clements comments as well as a rumor from CanWeGetToast who previously shared that Sentry is the main antagonist of the film.

The scooper wrote, “A bit of clarification on Thunderbolts: Yes, Sentry is the PHYSICAL antagonist for the team, but the mastermind behind it is all is Val.”

This is a clear race swap with Yuen being a dark haired South Korean American and Sentry aka Robert Reynolds is a blue-eyed, blonde haired, white man.
