Rumor: Captain America Could Appear in Loki Series Without Chris Evans
A new rumor indicates that Captain America could appear in the upcoming Loki Disney+ series without Chris Evans.
The Loki series will see Tom Hiddleston reprise his role as the Asgardian trickster following the events of Avengers: Endgame. When the Avengers tried to capture the Tesseract during the Battle of New York in The Avengers in 2012, Loki comes into possession of the Tesseract and teleports away.
The rumor comes from Cosmic Book News based on an interview the Russo brothers gave with Business Insider following Avengers: Endgame.
The Russo brothers were asked if there was a past Loki out there.
Joe Russo responded:
“The intent was that he was going to correct the past timelines at the point that the stones left. Loki, when he teleports away with the Time Stone, would create his own timeline. It gets very complicated, but it would be impossible for [Cap] to rectify the timeline unless he found Loki. The minute that Loki does something as dramatic as take the Space Stone, he creates a branched reality.”
Anthony Russo added, “We’re dealing with this idea of multiverses and branched realities, so there are many realities.”
The idea is that Captain America could be hunting down Loki in order to get the Tesseract back and return it to the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents so Thor could take it back to Asgard. Not to mention, Captain America has to return Mjolnir as well.
However, it might not just be the prime universe Captain America hunting down Loki. It’s also possible that another alternate reality Captain America could be hunting down Loki as well. This could give Marvel Studios the opportunity to introduce a new Captain America actor.
In fact, Joe Russo and Anthony Russo indicate the Captain America who hands his shield to Sam Wilson is actually a Captain America from a different reality.
Joe Russo states, “Correct, so he would have to come back to this timeline in order to hand off the shield.”
Anthony Russo adds, “There’s a question of, how did this separate timeline Cap come to reappear in this timeline and why?”
The idea is further complicated by the most recent Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer where it indicates that Mysterio is from a different Earth, and there is no Spider-Man on his Earth.
That could mean there are a number of different realities without the Avengers. In fact, Captain America might look radically different in a number of these realities if he even exists.
What do you make of this rumor? Do you think Marvel Studios might introduce a new Captain America so soon? Or do you think we might see Chris Evans make some guest appearances on the upcoming Loki show?
