Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor might have been one of the most polarizing performances in Justice League. You either loved him or you hated him. It appeared many people hated him more than loved him.
However, that hate didn’t deter Warner Bros. from including Eisenberg in the upcoming Justice League movie. Last December, Warner Bros. confirmed he would appear in the movie in a press release. Eisenberg also confirmed in an interview with Short List he would be in the List movie.
They are filming [Justice League] now, and I jump in from August. I loved the character and it was the most fun I’ve ever had at playing a role, and most challenging, in a great way, and most rewarding. I would love to play for years.
However, in a recent Q&A, Batman on Film was asked “How big is Jesse Eisenberg’s role in Justice League?” They responded, “He doesn’t have one. If he did prior to all the changes/reshoots, it was cut.”
While this is just a rumor and it is not confirmed in the least bit, it is plausible. Director Joss Whedon came on board and made a number of changes. In fact, there were rumors that before Whedon took over Justice League was “unwatchable.”
It’s also possible a higher up at Warner Bros. decided to axe Eisenberg’s Luthor due to the mixed reaction he received in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
What do you think about this rumor? Do you want to see Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor return in Justice League?
