There’s a lot coming in about what could happen for the upcoming Disney+ series Loki. One of the most recent reports indicates Tom Hiddleston’s Loki will return for Thor: Love and Thunder and the Disney+ show starring Loki will directly affect the plot of the film.
Given Tom Hiddleston’s popularity since the first Thor film, and how the character was equally comedic in Thor: Ragnarok opposite Chris Hemsworth, it comes as no surprise that he would be signed up to do more than just a show for the Disney+ platform.
The Connected World
Since the announcement at San Diego Comic-Con and the upcoming slate for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel is making the Disney+ shows a part of the larger narrative of the MCU. Wandavision will tie in with the Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness, with Monica Rambeau showing up and possibly connecting with the Captain Marvel sequel. So it goes with the Loki series.
FandomWire reports Loki will traverse across the Marvel multiverse with the Tesseract he acquired during the events of Avengers: Endgame. In fact, the Loki show “Follows Loki after the events in Avengers: Endgame as the trickster uses the power of the Tesseract to travel throughout human history and change historical events.”
Not only will Loki be traveling across the multiverse, but he will reportedly return to the main MCU timeline with Mjolnir in toe just in time for Thor: Love and Thunder. This explains how Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster will obtain Mjolnir after it was destroyed by Hela, retrieved from a separate timeline by Thor, used by Captain America and Thor against Thanos, and then returned to its original timeline by Captain America.
Now, the biggest question is, how in the world is Loki going to bring Mjolnir with him. Will he somehow be worthy of the hammer? Or will the Loki TV series introduce us to a different version of Loki, one who is worthy of Mjolnir and supplants the trickster we have come to know? It’s not out of the question in the recent Infinity Wars comic book arc, readers were introduced to a Loki not only wielding Mjolnir, but the Infinity Stones as well.
There’s also questions about the power of the Tesseract? Does it allow Loki to traverse the multiverse? Has he increased the power of the Tesseract with his own magics?
The Loki TV series for Disney+ is expected to start filming in early 2020 and is expected to hit the Disney+ streaming service in the Spring of 2021. Thor: Love and Thunder will hit theaters just a few months later on November, 5 2021.
