Rumor: Man of Steel 2 Announcement Coming This Summer

A Long Time Coming

Man of Steel 2 has been a recent topic of discussion here at Bounding Into Comics. Since there’s been quite a few shake-ups over at DC Films lately, their future films are an unknown. In fact, the entire DC slate could be revised.

The future of the DCEU is unknown, but chances are they want to hang on to some of their greatest heroes. Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot will soon be hard at work trying to make magic once again with Wonder Woman 2. Now, it sounds like DC is gearing up to give another sequel to one of its beloved heroes. That sequel being Man of Steel 2.

According to Revenge of the Fans, fans may have to wait a bit for the next Superman film. But the wait won’t be long.

“With regard to a Superman sequel starring Henry Cavill, I’ve got good news and bad news.

The Good News: It’s still happening.

The Bad News: I’m now being told that we’re going to have to wait until the summer, possibly at San Diego Comic-Con, for the official reveal- which will include the director and the release date. And, with the way their slate is currently configured, we’re unlikely to see this film before 2020.”

Will that director be Matthew Vaughn? It’s very possible. He’s spoken with DC lately, has an interest in Superman, and happens to be great at directing superhero films. Matthew Vaughn is an excellent choice for Lois and Clark’s next adventure.

Superman was one of the best parts of the Justice League film, and Henry Cavill has been one of the best parts of this Universe. Chances are Cavill is just as eager to see his Superman star in a film worthy of his performance. Thanks to mixed reception, Man of Steel has plenty of detractors. However, Henry Cavill is a fantastic Superman. The last 20 minutes of Justice League are proof of that.

It’s about time DC explores that Superman for an entire film.
