Rumor: Zac Efron to Play Adam Warlock in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
A new rumor suggests that actor Zac Efron will play Beta Ray Bill in James Gunn’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
The rumor, which comes from 4 Chan, suggests Zac Efron is being eyed by Marvel Studios to play Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Not only does the rumor indicate Efron is being eyed for Adam Warlock, but Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will reportedly feature the High Evolutionary as the main villain. It will be revealed that the High Evolutionary is Rocket Raccoon’s creator and that he will fall in love with another of the High Evolutionary’s experiments, Lylla.
The rumor also indicates that Beta Ray Bill will be further explored in the film and will actually meet up with Thor. It’s possible Beta Ray Bill might actually be an experiment of the High Evolutionary as well.
The film will also apparently reveal that Drax’s daughter is still alive and his entire family had not been killed by Thanos. And if you thought the rumor might be jamming too much into the film, it also reveals that Quasar will appear.
The High Evolutionary
The High Evolutionary was originally a biologist named Herbert Edgar Wyndham, who attempted to evolve animals. He would eventually reach a breakthrough when he received blueprints for cracking the genetic code from the Inhuman geneticist Phaeder. His experiments would allow him to evolve animals into humanoid life-forms. He would continue his research eventually creating half-animal, half-human beings called New Men.
He would eventually experiment on himself, turning himself into a godlike being. He even experimented with creating his own planet called Counter-Earth. However, the planet’s paradise would be corrupted by his own New Men lead by Man-Beast.
The High Evolutionary would eventually adopt Adam Warlock and even grant him the Soul Gem. He would go on to face off against Galactus, who attempted to devour Counter-Earth, and would have encounters with the X-Men, Thor, Spider-Man, and more. In fact, he waged an entire war against the Avengers when he attempted to evolve humanity with an Evolution Bomb.
Adam Warlock
Adam Warlock is one of Marvel’s oldest Marvel characters having first appeared in a Fantastic Four back in 1967. The character would undergo a number of revivals throughout his history.
He was originally created by a group known as the Enclave and was described as the perfect human and simply was called Him. He would eventually come under the wing of the High Evolutionary after he fled Earth. The High Evolutionary recruits him to help him save Counter-Earth from the Man Beast. After saving Counter-Earth, he teams up with Pip the Troll, Gamora, and Thanos to take on Magus, who is in reality a future version of himself that has been driven insane by the Soul Gem.
He would go on to recruit the Avengers to take on Thanos after the Mad Titan gains control of the Infinity Gauntlet. In fact, he would serve as the primary character to take on Thanos in a number of series involving the Mad Titan collecting the Infinity Gauntlet and the Soul Gems.
Beta Ray Bill
Beta Ray Bill is no stranger to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The character’s likeness was seen in Thor: Ragnarok. His face graced the Grandmaster’s coliseum and he was allegedly one of his champions.
Beta Ray Bill was the first character outside of the Norse pantheon to wield Thor’s Mjolnir in Marvel Comics. In fact, he’s able to defeat Thor and claims Mjolnir for his own. The two would eventually fight to the death in order to determine who would be the rightful wielder of Mjolnir. The two knock each other unconscious, but Beta Ray Bill revives first and claims Mjolnir. However, he saves Thor and reconsiders his claim to the hammer. Odin then has a new weapon called Stormbreaker created.
While the rumor indicates Beta Ray Bill could be one of The High Evolutionary’s experiments, in the comics he’s a member of the Korbinite race. In fact, he’s their champion having undergone physical augmentation.
Quasar
Quasar is the title of a number of Marvel Comics heroes including Neutron, Richard Rider, Phyla Vell, Wendell Vaughn, and Avril Kincaid. What all of the characters have in common except for Neutron, is they wear the Quantum Bands which allows a variety of powers s including light manipulation which allows them to become invisible. They can also tap into the “Quantum Zone” and project quantum energy. They also have the power to absorb and redirect other forms of energy.
The longest-lasting wearer of the Quantum Bands is Wendell Vaughn. The character first appeared as Quasar in 1979. He’s originally from Wisconsin and was a graduate from the S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy. He obtains the Quantum Bands after A.I.M. launches an attack on a S.H.I.E.L.D. research facility.
He would eventually become the protector of the universe and would have encounters with the Avengers, the Shi’ar, Ego the Living Planet, Galactus, Magus, who is dark version of Adam Warlock’s future self, and more.
