There is more and more buzz that a Black Widow solo film is going to happen. In fact, it appears the film already has a writer in Jac Schaeffer. We’ve even given our suggestions on the source material Schaeffer should use for her script.
But now Scarlett Johannson, who plays Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is putting her own thoughts out there on what she wants to see in a Black Widow film. Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans sat down with Brooke Anderson of Entertainment Tonight to lay out the details. Anderson specifically asked Johansson around the 4:50 minute mark, “When will we get a Black Widow movie?” She also added, “Do you want to?” Scarlett replied:
“I don’t know…It’s such a loaded question. Yes. I would want to in the right context and for the film to fit where I’m at in my life. I’ve played this character for a long time. It’s probably been like eight years or more. So much has happened in my life, my life as a performer, my life personally. I love playing this character and I think there’s definitely an opportunity to explore the Widow as a woman who has kind of come into her own and is making independent and active choices for herself probably for once in her life. She hasn’t always had that possibility. If it fit that criteria then, yes, I would want to do it.”
Scarlett Johansson became the Black Widow all the way back in Iron Man 2 where she acted as an aide to Tony Stark and showed off just how effective she can be as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. She showcased not only her physical martial prowess, but also her technical capabilities as well.
Black Widow gets a new hairdo in Avengers: Infinity War when she will once again join forces with the Avengers to take on Thanos when Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on April 27, 2018.
