Black Panther is still raking it in at the box office. Current estimates show the film has already made over $738 million in just a little over two weeks.
One of the big surprises from the film was the post-credit scene featuring Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes. Barnes was put on ice following Captain America: Civil War.

It was quite a surprise to see him kicking around at the end of Black Panther. But he might not be kicking around for that much longer. Sebastian Stan revealed a behind the scenes photo of Bucky Barnes from his post-credit cameo in Black Panther. You can see below, Barnes appears to lie unconscious or at least sleeping in the hut where we see him exit from in Black Panther. However, what’s concerning is Sebastian Stan’s message that accompanies the photo. He writes, “Dreams are never free. #wakandaforever”
It’s possible the message could be rather innocent. The photo does show Barnes sleeping in the hut. It’s more than likely he is simply dreaming or potentially recalling his past as the premiere HYDRA assassin, the Winter Soldier. He could be haunted by the many people he has killed.
However, it’s also possible Bucky Barnes might have to pay the ultimate price for freedom and the safety of the planet. It’s quite possible the Winter Soldier once again believes in the American dream like his counterpart Captain America and will put himself on the line to defeat Thanos. But by doing so, Thanos may end up killing him.
One thing is for sure, Bucky Barnes will return to action in Avengers: Infinity War with a brand new arm, most likely made from vibranium. Both the first trailer and the Superbowl TV spot confirmed the new arm.
What do you think? Will Bucky Barnes end up dying at the hands of Thanos or is he simply having nightmares as he recovers in Wakanda?
Avengers: Infinity War comes to theaters on May 4, 2018.
