Setting the Record Straight
David F. Sandberg and Zachary Levi are hard at work in Toronto, Canada. Together the two are making a little superhero film entitled, Shazam!. Hopefully something good will come of their collaboration. DC Films don’t have the best track record but it looks like the future is looking a little brighter.
On Friday, it was announced that DC Films and Warner Bros.’ Shazam! film has an official release date. The problem? Multiple release dates. The Hollywood Reporter mistakenly posted the date of April 19th, 2018. The report was picked up and the minor misinformation spread like wildfire.
Now a higher up at DC Films has cleared up the matter. The higher up is none other than David F. Sandberg. The Shazam! director took to Twitter to ensure the official release date for the film gets publicized.

Shazam!, starring Zachary Levi, Asher Angel and Mark Strong will be be released on April 5th of next year! The movie will be DC and Warner Bros.’ next film following this year’s Aquaman.
Shazam! should prove to be one of the more interesting superhero origin films. With an ancient wizard, six powerful gods and a kid’s fantasy come-to-life this could be one of the most objectively fun films in years. If the team behind the scenes actually cares about creating something special. Luckily, if there’s anyone who could possibly be more enthusiastic than Shazam!’s star Zachary Levi, it’s David F. Sandberg.
Sandberg has a very positive and prominent presence on the world wide web. Thus, his demeanor is warm and downright smiley. His appreciation for his own success and his films is tangible. He’s a sociable director, answering fan’s questions and, obviously, correcting misinformation.
Sandberg is the kind of director the DCEU needs right now. Thankfully, that’s exactly where he wants to be.
