Shazam! Star Zachary Levi Teases First Look at His Costume!

Someday Soon

David F. Sandberg is hard at work on the upcoming Shazam film. Filming is underway in Toronto, with all the stars of the film in town for the shoot. After this year’s Aquaman, Shazam will be the next film in the DC line-up. Expectations are quite high.

Unlike Aquaman, fans have yet to see Levi’s Shazam on the big screen. So many have wondered when DC and Warner Bros. would give fans their first look at Levi in-costume. Since the film has only been shooting for a couple of weeks there’s still plenty of time for reveals before the film’s release date of April 5th, 2019. But now, Zachary Levi is giving fans a big tease of the costume. Unfortunately, it doesn’t include a peak. But it could be a sign that will change someday soon.

Levi posted this tease to his Instagram account.

Levi is a lucky man. Not only is he playing the character, but he’ll be one of the first people to see the costume!

Time will tell when the first look at Levi in-costume will arrive. If only there were talented graphic artists out there who could give their rendition of what it could look like… Oh wait, there are!

Dressed to Perfection

Graphic Artist Bosslogic is the king of creating mock-ups of actors as superheroes. And Levi as Shazam is one of his best.

Looks like a 14-year-old kid infused with the powers of six gods, alright. Disney star Asher Angel is joining Zachary Levi on this superheroic journey as his Billy Batson counterpart. While Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been cast as Shazam villain, Black Adam, for several years he’s likely making his debut in his own film. Instead, the brilliant Mark Strong has been perfectly cast as Dr. Sivanna. As one of the oldest comic book villains ever, Sivanna has been due for a live-action interpretation for a long time. Who better to do that than the ever-villainous Strong?

A lot is riding on the work of David F. Sandberg, Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, and the many others behind and in front of the cameras. This is an old character who American audiences will need to get reacquainted with. The character of Shazam hasn’t even had a lot of comic book representation lately. Now, he’s getting his own feature film by a director more known for the Horror-genre.

But Sandberg has plenty of experience. Not only that, he’s been a wonderful champion for the film on both Twitter and Reddit. He’s the kind of artist DC needs right now: someone who’s enthusiastic about bringing awesome characters to life, and nothing more.

That kind of simple work will get DC back on trackShazam! is the first DC film to go into production under new President, Walter Hamada. Though pre-production was most likely completed before he took the job, his influence will be felt. DC Films and Warner Bros. need this film to be a success not a blunder.

But an enthusiastic cast and crew is a good sign. Though the future of the DC Films line-up is unclear, things are look sky-high for Shazam!
