Stan Lee’s daughter Joan Celia (JC) Lee ripped Marvel and Disney executives while siding with Sony in the dispute over Spider-Man being in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
JC spoke with TMZ about Spider-Man exiting the MCU after negotiations between Sony and Disney fell apart. She stated, “Marvel and Disney seeking total control of my father’s creations must be checked and balanced by others who, while still seeking to profit, have genuine respect for Stan Lee and his legacy.”

She continues, “Whether it’s Sony or someone else’s, the continued evolution of Stan’s characters and his legacy deserves multiple points of view.”
She adds, “When my father died, no one from Marvel or Disney reached out to me. From day one, they have commoditized my father’s work and never shown him or his legacy any respect or decency.”
JC concluded with some fiery words aimed at Disney and Marvel, “In the end, no one could have treated my father worse than Marvel and Disney’s executives.”

Before JC made her public comments to TMZ, Hawkeye actor Jeremy Renner took to Instagram to ask Sony to bring Spider-Man back to the MCU.
Renner invoked Stan Lee writing, “Hey Sony Pictures we want Spider-Man back to Stan Lee and Marvel please, thank you.”
Reports about the split between Disney and Sony indicated Disney wanted a larger take of the box office cut.
Deadline initially reported Disney wanted a 50/50 co-finance deal, while The Hollywood Reporter indicated Disney wanted at least a 30% stake.
Sony reportedly offered to continue the current deal which sees Disney take 5% of first sale dollar gross. Disney allegedly rejected that deal.
