Oscar Isaac, who plays Poe Dameron in the Disney Star Wars trilogy as well as Apocalypse in X-Men: Apocalypse, wants to play Snake in the rumored Metal Gear Solid movie adaptation.
Isaac spoke with IGN while promoting his upcoming Netflix film Triple Frontier. Along with Ben Affleck, Adria Aroja, Pedro Pascal, Garret Hedlund, and Charlie Hunnam, Isaac was asked which video game adaptation they would want to start in.
Isaac responded, “Metal Gear Solid, that’s the one.” He would add, “I’m throwing my hat in for that one.” When asked who he would play, Isaac responded, “Snake, man.”
Isaac isn’t the only one who envisions himself as Snake in a potential Metal Gear Solid movie.
Graphic artist Boss Logic created some concept art of both Isaac and Henry Cavill in the role of Snake.
OK let’s get back to serious Bid-NESS and that’s rolling with the hype of a #metalgearsolid movie.

Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts has expressed a desire to direct a Metal Gear Solid film and even has the approval of Hideo Kojima.
I’ve been keeping this a secret for a while but it a great honor to announce that @HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN wrote an introduction to the liner notes of the Japanese KINGS OF SUMMER release.
In it he says “I’m convinced that no one but him can direct “METAL GEAR SOLID”.

In fact Vogt-Roberts has been releasing concept art images for his potential Metal Gear Solid film.
DAY 6 of #METALGEAR31st
I found @c780162’s beautiful speed paintings and reached out to collaborate.
Metal Gear is unique for the sorrow & loss you feel while “winning”. The death of Sniper Wolf rocked me when I first experienced it. I wanted to capture that melancholy victory. pic.twitter.com/FD06Gajk4R

The director also sat down with Collider last August to discuss the potential of movie. A script for the film by Derek Connolly has been submitted to Sony and Vogt-Roberts had high praise for it:
Even if I wasn’t involved in this movie I would read that script and say, ‘Holy shit.’ It represents a different approach to a video game movie. It represents a different approach to how a three-act structure is put on screen.
He also addresses what he sees as the biggest challenge to adapting Metal Gear Solid to the big screen, the massive scope of the franchise:
“The thing about Metal Gear is it’s intentionally sprawling and it’s intentionally dense. It’d be super easy to do one sliver of it or do too much at once. And we’ve spent the last little bit really trying to figure out, to me, the most Kojima-san inspired way to tackle as much of that story through a device that I think allows you to tap in…how to put this without spoiling it?…regardless, we have a device that I think allows us to respect the breadth of the franchise, respect the sprawling nature of the franchise, respect the somewhat convoluted nature of the franchise at times. But to still show you the mirrors. What I mean by that is all those timelines fundamentally exist because they show the repetition of war throughout time. They show the repetition and the cycle of pain throughout time. So it ’s almost impossible to tell just one story now. You need the full throughline of what this game is about.”
Oscar Isaac next appears in Triple Frontier which debuts on Netflix later this week. He will also provide the voice for Gomez Addams in The Addams Family. He will reprise his role as Poe Dameron in Star Wars: Episode IX, and he will take on Duke Leto Atriedes in the upcoming Dune adaptation.
Do you think Oscar Isaac could pull off Solid Snake? What do you think about a Metal Gear Solid movie?
