Star Wars revealed a first look at the Sith Trooper that will appear in the upcoming film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
The Star Wars Show described the Sith Trooper as “the next evolution of the Imperial First Order soldiers and bears a more modern and menacing look worthy of its namesake.”
Along with the reveal of the new trooper, they announced the character will be featured on a number of collectible items from a Funko Pop! to baseball caps and Hot Toys figurine.
Lucasfilm archivist Madlyn Burkert discussed the new Sith Trooper:
“It has some really unique aesthetics to it. And it has some subtle ties to previous stormtrooper designs, which I think fans will enjoy discovering.”
The new Sith Trooper will be on display at San Diego Comic-Con along with a number of other Imperial and First Order Stormtrooper designs. It will include nine different costumes featured in the Star Wars film.
Here’s the full list:

The trooper armor display will also feature a photography and video component and Star Wars promises it will feature Star Wars creators and concept designers like Doug Chiang.

The Old Republic
This isn’t the first time a Sith Trooper has been introduced to the Star Wars universe. In Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, Sith Troopers were the foot soldiers of the Sith Empire during the Jedi Civil War. They were originally members of the Republic Army who served under Darth Revan. However, their numbers would grow as Revan began conquering planets.
The Sith would eventually institute a strict training regimen to become a Sith Trooper. That regimen culled the weak and inspired fear into each Sith Trooper that spurred them into battle. It also eliminated the possibility of them betraying the Sith.
