Theory: Spider-Man: Far From Home Could Be Avengers: Infinity War Prequel

In the endless speculation of what is the internet, recent set videos from Spider-Man: Far From Home have sparked even more.

Recently, we were treated to a set video of Maria Hill and Nick Fury in London for the next Sony/Marvel franchise film. And they are wearing some of the same attire familiar to fans seen in the post-credit scene from Avengers: Infinity War.

The similar costumes have led some wary-eyed Marvel fans to debate the timeline of Spider-Man: Far From Home. And they’re thinking it’ll be a prequel to Infinity War.

The Avengers 4 Timeline

We’ve talked about the possibility of Avengers 4 and how it will be messing with time. So the speculators are speculating that Spider-Man: Far From Home will be a divergent timeline from when the Black Order and Thanos showed up. It’ll essentially be Peter Parker on the bus with his school mates like we saw in Infinity War, without the Giant Q-Ship appearing above New York.

The line of reasoning goes- they were on a field trip to the airport. This takes Peter Parker and his school mates to a London trip, where most of Spider-Man: Far From Home is filmed.

What Time Did the Boss Say?

Marvel boss Kevin Feige said that Spider-Man: Far From Home would be the first film to kick off Phase 4, but wouldn’t talk about the timeline specifically.

Feige also stated that Spider-Man: Far From Home takes place just minutes after the events of Avengers 4. If the next Avengers movie changes the timeline, then we could have a prequel of sorts. So Peter Parker never fights the Black Order, he never gets launched into space. And if he doesn’t launch into space, then he doesn’t fight against the Mad Titan. More importantly, he doesn’t fade into ashes.

That’s if Avengers 4 plays with time travel. This could indicate the success of their Avengers mission to change the timeline, and prevent the events of the snap. That’s a big spoiler if true.
