Warner Bros. and DC Films released their first trailer for the upcoming Shazam! film starring Zachary Levi.
Take a look:
Captain Marvel has officially arrived! The trailer starts off with Billy Batson being transferred to a brand new foster home where he befriends Freddy Freeman, a comic book and superhero aficionado. The two hit it off right away and appear to become close friends. Billy even stands up for his foster brother when he two students begin beating him up and stealing his crutch.
After a quick chase into the subway, Djimon Hounsou’s Shazam shows up and grants Billy his powers. We then get to see a number of hilarious scenes as Billy and Freddy begin testing out just what kind of superpowers Captain Marvel is capable of. We get to see strength and flight tests.
After a few quick tests, he’s put to the test in a convenience store, where he takes care of two would-be armed robbers.
We do get to see a glimpse of Mark Strong’s Doctor Sivana, but that’s about it. The highlight of the movie is Levi’s Captain Marvel. He perfectly captures the essence of a kid in a superhero’s adult body. We get to see him using his powers to charge random people’s cell phones in what looks like a mall. He even tells one passerby he’s a superhero.
The film looks like a lot of fun and will have plenty of humorous moments. It’s definitely something we haven’t seen from a superhero movie.

Shazam! will hit theaters on April 5, 2019.
