Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins has been sharing a little bit of her plans for a third Wonder Woman even indicating when the third film will take place. However, actor Chris Pine, who plays Steve Trevor, in the franchise seemingly shut the door on appearing in a third film.
Pine who is not only working with Jenkins for Wonder Woman, but also the TNT Television drama, I Am The Night, spoke with Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of the television show at Harmony Gold in Los Angeles.
Pine told them, “I think Steve’s done. I think Steve’s done his bit. I wish them all the luck in the world.”
While Pine seemingly made it clear he wouldn’t reprise his role as Steve Trevor in a third Wonder Woman film, director Patty Jenkins didn’t completely rule out the possibility of Pine returning to play Trevor, “We’ll see,” she teased. She would add, “Chris and I will be working together plenty more, one way or the other.”
Pine’s Steve Trevor notably died in the first [easyazon_link identifier=”B072PQJKYH” locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Wonder Woman[/easyazon_link] as he sacrificed his life, dying in a plane explosion.
A report indicates that Trevor will be resurrected in Wonder Woman 1984 by DC Comics villain Maxwell Lord. Lord reportedly teams up with Barbara Ann Minerva as the two seek out magical artifacts in order for Lord to attain the power of a god. However, after Minverva is cursed and becomes Cheetah, she seeks vengeance on Lord. Lord enlists the aid of Wonder Woman and wins her to his side by using one of the artifacts in his collection to resurrect Steve Trevor.
Given Pine’s comments, one can assume that the artifact might only last for a certain time period, or Trevor ends up dying all over in Wonder Woman 1984. Based on this report, my guess is that, Lord, being the manipulator that he is in the comics, the artifact will have a time limit on it.
Do you think Pine is officially done with Steve Trevor following Wonder Woman 1984? How do you think his character will be used in Wonder Woman 1984?
