With New Rumors of Ben Affleck Out as Batman, Jon Hamm Speaks Up!

Warner Bros., DC Films, and the DC Extended Universe look to be completely in disarray as a new report indicated Henry Cavill would no longer be playing Superman in future films.

Hidden in The Hollywood Reporter’s report on Henry Cavill is an assurance that Ben Affleck will no longer be playing Batman as well. The report reads:

“As such, Cavill will join Ben Affleck, who isn’t expected to reprise his role for director Matt Reeves’ forthcoming Batman stand-alone film, as a hero on the way out.”

One of the more talked about contenders to take on the role of Batman in the case that the rumors and reports about Affleck pan out to be true is Mad Men star Jon Hamm.

Hamm recently did an interview with Graham Bensinger on his In Depth series where he talked about his interest in playing Batman.

“It depends on the script, what the story is. I am a huge comic book fan, always have been. I have read comic books since I was nine or younger. And I am pretty knowledgeable about a lot of them. And I like the genre, and I like when they are done well.”

Hamm would go on to express his love of Black Panther and confirm that he watches FX’s Legion. He did however note that he has not had any official conversations regarding the role of Batman. He was open to the role:

“I’d probably fit the suit. I’d have to work out a lot, which I don’t love. But, I am sure there is an interesting version of that being out there. And if they wanted to tap me on the shoulder and ask me to do it: why not?”

Hamm also indicated that he knows about a number of fans’ desires to see Hamm become Batman:

“I have had rumors about that since probably season one of Mad Men. I have never had a conversation with anyone about it, literally. And I’ve sat in the room with all these guys. I have never been offered anything. I think the Internet wants what it wants. But, I mean, a lot of people have to sign off on that, obviously not just the Internet.”
