Deadpool 2 and Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor Terry Crews continues to be attacked for his views on parenting and fatherhood with some now stating he’s not only misogynist, but homophobic as well.
Crews is being attacked for stating children “will be severely malnourished” if they do not receive both paternal and maternal love.
Wonder if any of the #BrooklynNineNine cast are going to address the disgusting things terry crews is tweeting pic.twitter.com/8znPusepOQ
— auguste (@astdelagrange) March 2, 2019
Crews deleted the Tweet and offered an apology saying, “I apologize to anyone who was hurt by my ‘severely malnourished’ tweet. It was in response to someone who said kids wouldn’t ‘starve’. It was poorly worded so I deleted it.”
I apologize to anyone who was hurt by my “severely malnourished” tweet. It was in response to someone who said kids wouldn’t “starve”.
It was poorly worded so I deleted it.
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 1, 2019
Crews would also recognize that his Tweet was hurtful.
I recognize that. https://t.co/3xdkKxMuGz
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 1, 2019
Despite the apology, Crews was accused of homophobia. However, unlike many actors and actresses who would normally go silent after an apology or issue a canned response, Crews would respond to his accusers challenging many of their arguments and accusations against him.
So all the Black kids growing up without dads or paternal love are just fine?
So we just let all these dads off the hook?
Just because women can do it all alone— and they have done an amazing job— does that mean they should?
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 1, 2019
When you quit speaking for black people…. https://t.co/23dp6XWcqi
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 2, 2019
I understand you trying to cancel the concept of a father but without one YOU WOULDN’T EXIST, SIR. https://t.co/mZfQIiSTiB
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 2, 2019
Fatherhood is not toxic https://t.co/guhYZVH6nt
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 2, 2019
I explained it just like I meant to. You need both. https://t.co/2aXCUEiHDW
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 2, 2019
He would also begin quote tweeting a number of his followers who admitted they struggled without having a father figure in their life.
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 1, 2019
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 2, 2019
I hear you https://t.co/hGjQEFrvUE

Following Crews’ defense of fatherhood and its importance in children’s lives he would then state he had “another very controversial statement to make.” He would state, “As a human being there are things you can only get from your mother.”
I have another very controversial statement to make, and I will since I’m “canceled” anyway.
As a human being there are things you can only get from your mother.
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 2, 2019
And Crews’ prediction that it would be controversial would quickly become a reality. Nerdist’s Editor in Chief Rachel Heine weighed in.
I hope you can listen to what folks are telling you instead of digging your heels in. some women don’t want children, some kids have two fathers, etc etc etc some have nothing at all and they can still grow up to be strong, lovely human beings. love is love.
— Rachel Heine (@RachelHeine) March 2, 2019
She would be joined by model Emily Sears who claimed Crews’ Tweets were “hurting people.”
^ @terrycrews you’re hurting people.
— Emily Sears (@emilysears) March 2, 2019
But Crews would once again not sit and take the accusations.
I guess the truth hurts. You have a father. https://t.co/5pcYJLDQfy
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 3, 2019
In fact, Crews would offer his sympathy to Twitter user EyeofShamia who claimed they were an orphan, but was taken in by her mom’s best friend. In fact, EyeOfShamia even thanked Crews for his pep talk and stated they had learned a lot from his motivational speeches.
actually i’m an orphan 🤷🏾♀️ when my mom died her best friend had to take me in & my (half-)brothers and i got separated (they actually had dads) by the courts in NJ.
but thanks for the pep talk, tho. learned a lot from your motivational speeches. 👍🏾 https://t.co/sKhF1cGk6e

So glad therapy and supportive people in your life filled the gap of your missing or deceased parents.
These things are needed.
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 3, 2019
However, this would anger Sears and the two would go back and forth for quite a bit with Sears taking offense at Crews referring to her as “dear.”
It’s truly a sign of an abusive person to cause someone pain then come back act like you’re caring. Where your apology? You’re a fraud.
— Emily Sears (@emilysears) March 3, 2019
@emilysears My truth hurts tweet was to you dear, not her.
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 3, 2019
I am not your dear.
— Emily Sears (@emilysears) March 3, 2019
Understood. It’s a sign of respect, ma’am.
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 3, 2019
You really love this huh? I see you. By the way you don’t know a thing about my father. Believe me when I say I see right through you. So transparent, I see you flailing clutching at being ‘right’ that’s the toxic masculinity you benefit from yet claim to fight against. Go learn.
— Emily Sears (@emilysears) March 3, 2019
I said that to YOU.
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 3, 2019
Women’s equality is not a movement. It’s the truth. https://t.co/PUsJwfNaYQ
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 3, 2019
You are the one who tweeted F—- Me. I don’t know you, ma’am. I’m still fighting for women’s rights and equality. BUT YOU ARE NOT MORE EQUAL than anyone else.
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 3, 2019
So it’s not true because I said it?
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 3, 2019
And what personal gain are you talking about? The women’s movement hasn’t given me one dime.
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 3, 2019
Who said it’s not true? That doesn’t make it not mansplaining. Mansplaining is when men explain things to women that we already know.
— Emily Sears (@emilysears) March 3, 2019
So then must know you have a father.
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 3, 2019
Again I don’t know you. Thanks but I don’t need your backing, support or help for me to grow. I have my wife @rebeccakcrews for that. https://t.co/vBukATOgVH
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 3, 2019
Crews would continue to defend himself against accusations of homophobia regrading his “severely malnourished” tweet.
@rebeccakcrews AND I ❤️u so MUCH👊🏾🔥 https://t.co/JVY8n3fCUP
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 3, 2019
Not hiding at all. I’m right here, sir. Won’t be the first time a mob with torches come for black people who think for themselves.🔥 https://t.co/MS11ZvfiLA
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 3, 2019
I agree. It was the wrong choice of words in response to another tweet. I apologize. The tweet was deleted. https://t.co/5oZF4pjZh1
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 3, 2019
Sorry you believe this, but I never said ANYTHING derogatory about same sex parents. IN FACT I reiterated over and over again that same sex parents can successfully raise a child.
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 4, 2019
Crews would then call out #Woke Twitter for their unrelenting attacks against him.
Me:
Human beings need exercise.#Woke Twitter:
FUCK you! I don’t exercise! I have NEVER exercised and I’m fine! My kids CAN’T exercise because they were hurt so now you’re mocking them! I demand you take that back and apologize! Terry Crews do better. Also me: pic.twitter.com/zUNX6aROOm
— terry crews (@terrycrews) March 4, 2019
