Battlestar Galactica’s Katee Sackhoff will join The Flash as the DC Comics villain Blacksmith.
Sackhoff’s Blacksmith will reportedly debut in the fifth episode of Season 4, “Girls Night Out.” Entertainment Weekly notes the episode will be a mini-crossover episode with Arrow. It will also star Emily Bett Rickards’ Felicity Smoak.
Blacksmith also known as Amunet Black first appeared in Flash: Iron Heights #1. She was created by Geoff Johns and Ethan Van Sciver. She operates the Network, an underground black market operation in Central and Keystone Cities. She eventually gains the power to fuse metal and flesh when she steals her ex-husband Goldface’s formula.
In the “Crossfire” story arc, she recruits Mirror Master, Weather Wizard, Trickster, Magenta, Girder, Plunder, and Murmur to take on the Flash. However, she doesn’t take on the Flash directly. Instead she targets his allies including Pied Piper, Jesse Quick, and Jay Garrick. Her plan is foiled by another villain known as The Thinker. However, she does defeat the Flash and The Thinker. But her ex-husband Goldface leads the people of Central City and Keystone City against her.
Entertainment Weekly describes Sackhoff’s Blacksmith as “a steely and badass boss of an underground black market for supervillains.” She “uses every means possible, including the log list of metahumans under her thumb, to ensure her illicit enterprise thrives.”
Along with starring in Battlestar Galactica, Sackhoff starred as Victoria ‘Vic’ Moretti on Longmire. She also appeared on 24 as Dana Walsh. She’s no stranger to comic book work. She voiced Detective Essen in Batman: Year One as well as Black Cat in Spider-Man: Edge of Time.
The Flash returns on Tuesday, October 10 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW!
