The premiere episode of the third season of The CW’s Batwoman saw its ratings plummet.

TV Series Finale reports the first episode of Season 3 of Batwoman was only viewed by 458,000 people and had an abysmal .10 rating in the 18-49 demographic.

Total viewership nosedived 30% from the Season 2 premiere and the demographic change dropped over 33%. The Season 2 premiere saw 659,000 people tune in and had a .15 in the 18-49 demographic.

Not only did viewership plummet from the Season 2 premiere, but the Season 3 premiere was actually worst than the Season 2 viewership and ratings averages. Season 2 average viewership per episode was 495,000 with an average rating of .12 in the 18-49 demographic.

While this first episode of Season 3 is not the show’s worst performing episode, it is decisively in the bottom half.

Back in Season 2, the fourteenth episode of the season saw viewership at its lowest with 346,000. It also had an abysmal .10 rating in the 18-49 demographic.

It was one of two episodes that saw viewership dip below 400,000. Episode 13 was only viewed by 399,000 individuals, It had a .11 rating in the 18-49 demographic.

If you don’t think these numbers are abysmal, The Flash Season 3 premiere back in 2016 saw viewership at 3.1 million with a demographic rating of 1.26. It also only had an 11% drop in viewership from the Season 2 premiere.

Arrow Season 3 in 2014 saw its premiere be watched by 2.8 million people with a 1.00 in the 18-49 demographic. It’s viewership actually increased over 3% from the Season 2 premiere.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’s Season 3 premiere was viewed by 1.7 million people back in 2017. It had a .57 rating in the 18-49 demographic. It’s viewership only dropped a little less than 6% from the Season 2 premiere.

Black Lightning’s Season 3 premiere n 2019 also outperformed Batwoman. It was viewed by 891,000 people and had a .32 rating in the 18-49 demographic. It did have a significant drop off in viewership, over 22%, from Season 2.

Black Lightning was eventually cancelled after its fourth season. The season four premiere was viewed by 515,000 people. It had a .15 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Season 4 finished with average viewership of 406,000 and a .12 rating in the 18-49 demographic.

The show had six episodes in Season 4 dip below 400,000 total viewers. The lowest being Episode 11, which saw only 303,000 people tune in. It still had a .13 in the 18-49 demographic. The lowest rated episode was Episode 12, which had a rating of .07.

Given Batwoman’s poor performance for its Season 3 debut, it’s more than likely it might see viewership dip below 300,000 sometime this season. The demographic rating might also go below .05.

As for whether or not the show’s quality improved, YouTuber HeelvsBabyface says, “Having watched this episode, this show is not going to get any better.”

He added, “If you are into absolute trash, garbage, nonsensical, stupid TV, I’ve got a show for you. We are talking some of the laziest s*** happened in this episode.”
