CBS Releases First Supergirl Trailer

The opening of the trailer is almost identical to The Flash’s opening scene for each episode. It introduces Kara Zor-El, portrayed by Melissa Benoist, and her back story. It then goes into introducing us to her alter-ego who just like her cousin happens to work at a major News Magazine. Except she is an executive assistant to the big boss, Cat Grant played by Calista Flockhart.

There are quite a few supporting cast members outside of Cat Grant, including Kara’s sister Alex (Chyler Leigh) who recruits Kara into a secret government agency, The Department of Extra Normal Operations led by Hank Henshaw (David Harewood). Jimmy Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) also makes an appearance as Cat Grant’s brand new art director.

Much of the trailer focuses on Supergirls coming of age both into her powers and as an adult. She will face a number of challenges from landing a plane on a river to stopping a bank robbery all the while upgrading the style of her suit along the way.

However, the trailer does take a serious tone towards the end introducing alien threats that Supergirl will no doubt have to confront.

The show will be produced by The Flash and Arrow executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg as well as Ali Adler and Sarah Schecter.

Supergirl will air on Mondays at 8:00 P.M. on CBS in November. Will you be watching? I know I definitely will.
