DC Universe Releases New Swamp Thing Trailer!

DC Universe released a brand new trailer for their upcoming James Wan produced Swamp Thing television series.

Take a look.

Producer James Wan spoke to CBR about the upcoming television series noting the show plans to “lean more into the Gothic horror/romance aspect” of Swamp Thing.

Wan added, “It’s a human story. Basically, it’s Beauty and the Beast. It’s about this guy struggling to find his humanity as he’s transforming and becoming more and more of a monster.”

Executive producer Len Wiseman, who also directed the first and second episodes, also discussed the show will be “modern but we want to add the southern gothic element.” He also noted the show will definitely have a horror element noting he wanted “to do something in the universe that was heroic but also horror.” He described it as “the best part” to him.

Here’s the official description for the show:

“SWAMP THING follows Abby Arcane as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe.”

The show is based off Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson’s Swamp Thing characters.

The show stars Crystal Reed as Abby Arcane, Andy Bean as Alec Holland, Derek Mears as Swamp Thing, Virginia Madsen as Maria Sunderland, Will Patton as Avery Sunderland, and Maria Sten as Liz Tremayne.

Swamp Thing arrives on DC Universe on May 31st.
