The Walt Disney Company, Marvel Studios, and Disney+ announced their upcoming Hawkeye series will not have the same release time table as their previous Marvel Studios Disney+ entries.
In conjunction with a new 60 second clip showing off the series, Disney announced they are taking a play out of Amazon Studios’ playbook and will release the first two episodes of Hawkeye on November 24th.
Amazon Studios typically releases the first three episodes of their series onto their platform before releasing subsequent episodes weekly. For example, they will be releasing the first three episodes of The Wheel of Time on November 19th and then will release new episodes weekly after that.
Disney will be mimicking this model as the first two episodes of Hawkeye will release on November 24th with new episodes releasing weekly on Wednesdays. Previous shows like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki released each episode weekly. However, WandaVision did release its first two episodes on the same day.
The first season of Hawkeye is only six episodes long.
The official description for Hawkeye states, “Marvel Studios’ “Hawkeye” is an original new series set in post-blip New York City where former Avenger Clint Barton aka Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas.”
The description continues, “But when a threat from his past shows up, Hawkeye reluctantly teams up with Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), a 22-year-old skilled archer and his biggest fan, to unravel a criminal conspiracy.”
The series also stars Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy James and newcomer Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez. The series is helmed by Rhys Thomas and directors Bert and Bertie.
