Fan Arts Shows Eva Green as the Captivating Sorceress Yennefer in Netflix’s The Witcher

Netflix’s The Witcher might be one of the most anticipated shows on the streaming giant. But with that anticipation there are also big expectations. The show made headlines when they landed Henry Cavill to play Geralt of Rivia. The casting decision won wide praise. However, The Witcher would find themselves on the negative end when reports indicated they planned to race swap Ciri.

Needless to say fans are already heavily invested in the casting of the show and they aren’t afraid to let Netflix know who they want in specific roles. Reddit user 1vergil put his chips behind Eva Green as Yennefer when posted a piece of fan art by graphic artist Boss Logic that depicts Green as the enchanting sorceress on The Witcher subreddit.

Eva Green isn’t a stranger to fantasy, horror, or supernatural genres. She’s had starring roles in 300: Rise of an Empire, Penny Dreadful, Camelot, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, and Casino Royale  among others. The actress has the experience and the chops to jump right into the genre blended story and do it well.

A number of fans on Twitter are pushing for Eva Green to be cast as Yennefer.

Because of Green’s popularity with fans, casting her might help to calm things down and not allow the show to be overshadowed by accusations of insensitivity to Eastern/Central European cultures.

Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich decided to take a leave from Twitter after fans expressed their dismay with the reported casting call to race swap Ciri. Many criticized the casting call and pointed to Hissrich’s comments in May where she assured fans she would honor the roots of The Witcher and would not race or gender swap characters.

If Green is offered and accepts the role to be apart of the show, it might eleviate some of the pressure that the writing staff has felt over the last few weeks from very concerned fans.

What do you think, does this fan art make a decent case for Eva Green as Yennefer? Or is their another actress who you believe would fit the role better?
