Gotham Star Erin Richards Teases Possible Batgirl Appearance In Gotham!

Erin Richards, who plays Barbara Kean on Gotham, got us super excited when she hinted that Barbara Gordon might make an appearance on the show as a baby.

Richards spoke to Cinema Blend  answering the question on whether or not Gotham has tossed Jim Gordon and Barbara Kean’s comic history of raising a daughter to the wayside.

I don’t think so. I think it’s still possible. I think that this version of Barbara that we’ll see will actually be the most surprising to Jim as a development. I think he might be taken aback by how she’s turned out. And not necessarily in a bad way.

Barbara Gordon has a rich history in the comics. She first appeared in Detective Comics #359 as Batgirl and then would later go on to become Oracle in Suicide Squad #23.

The character originated at the request of the 1960s Batman television show in order to secure a third season for the show. The character became so popular she almost got her own show! In the comics and television show, she is the daughter of Gotham City’s Police Commissioner James Gordon. She is also one of Batman’s trusted partners when it comes to crime-fighting.

Richards also hinted that the post-electro-shock version of Barbara Kean on Gotham will be much calmer than what we have come to expect of the bloodthirsty villain.

This calmness opens up the possibility of Barbara and Jim reuniting to have and raise a child. The specter of having child is also raised with Barbara’s new role on Season 4 that will see her training Selina to become Catwoman. She will take on a motherly and nurturing role for Selina possibly setting the stage for her own daughter. It’s quite possible she might take a liking to being a mother to Selina and might want to actually have a child for herself.

Gotham Season 4 debuts on Fox on a new day, Thursday. It all begins on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 9 PM ET.
