Luke Cage has been confirmed for a second season by Marvel and Netflix. The news was broken by a simple tweet that featured a video set to the tune of the Luke Cage opening theme, sent out with Cage’s own mantra, “Always forward.”

This is the third Marvel Netflix series that will be continuing for a follow-up season. Luke Cage joins Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Daredevil will be getting a third season while Jessica Jones will get a second one. Netflix is also looking to debut an Ironfist series as well as The Defenders team-up combining all four main characters in 2017. The Punisher will also be getting his own stand-alone series.
It’s unclear when Season 2 will debut. It’s most likely that with the crossover series, The Defenders which will include Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, season two will be delayed. It’s expected that season two should follow soon after the release of The Defenders.
Series star Mike Colter recently teased fans at LA Comic-Con that we could see Heroes for Hire with Iron Fist sooner rather than later.
“Finn Jones I was just hanging out with yesterday. So [I’m] going back to New York, start filming… We’re getting ready to do ‘Heroes for Hire’ eventually, come on.”
Luke Cage Season 1, is now streaming on Netflix.
