Finally Ben Daniels plays Uncle Walter a.k.a. Brain-Wave.

More in-depth descriptions for the characters were also released:
- Sheldon Sampson (The Utopian) is the storied leader of the superhero team The Union. But times have changed, and he doesn’t understand the world we live in anymore. Or his own family.
- Walter Sampson (Brain-Wave) is Sheldon’s older brother. A man of vast intellect and cunning who, unlike Sheldon, isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. Or bloody.
- Grace Sampson (Lady Liberty) is Sheldon’s wife and one of the most powerful heroes on the planet. She doesn’t always agree with Sheldon, but strives to balance his ideals with the reality of the modern, often violent, world they live in.
- Chloe Sampson is Grace and Sheldon’s daughter. Rejecting everything her parents stand for, Chloe has forged her own hedonistic path far away from them. A path that threatens to go against everything her parents have sworn to protect.
- Brandon Sampson is Grace and Sheldon’s son. In training to assume the mantle of The Utopian and become the new leader of The Union, he struggles to live up to his father’s mythic legend.
- Fitz Small (The Flare) is the heart and soul of The Union. Despite suffering injuries that ended his career as a superhero, he continues to be one of the most valued members of the team. And is often the only thing holding them together in the face of an increasingly hostile world.
- George Hutchence (Skyfox) was Sheldon Sampson’s closest friend and ally before turning against him and the rest of his teammates in The Union. Now considered the greatest supervillain in the world, George plots his revenge on the teammates he believes betrayed him.
The show is currently slated for a 2021 release date. Here’s the official description:
“When a superhero seizes control of the government, the next generation of heroes must join the new regime or fight back.”
Millar was excited by the cast announcement describing the show as “next level stuff with a master of his craft surrounded by a heavyweight ensemble. A dream first project from our line at Netflix.”
A quick, serious and exciting tweet: you saw what @stevendeknight did with DDS1. Wait til you see this. This is next level stuff with a master of his craft surrounded by a heavyweight ensemble. A dream first project from our line at Netflix.

The show is based on Millar and Quietly’s Jupiter Legacy comic book series which originally debuted in 2013. The series focused on the Sampsons who are very much like the Kardashians in terms of their celebrity status and star power. The big difference is they have superpowers. However, their one-time team member betrays them and they must stop him before he takes over the world.
This looks to be the first Millarworld project to really move ahead. Netflix announced last July that they were already working on five live-action adaptations from Millarworld including Jupiter’s Legacy. Netflix purchased Millarworld back in August of 2017.
Along with the live-action adaptations Mark Millar is currently working on two Netflix comic book series in [easyazon_link identifier=”1534308717″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]The Magic Order[/easyazon_link] and [easyazon_link identifier=”1534312366″ locale=”US” tag=”boundingintocomics-20″]Prodigy[/easyazon_link] which are published through Image Comics.
What do you make of this cast list? Are you excited to see Jupiter’s Legacy get adapted to live-action?
