There’s been a lot going on with Daredevil/Charlie Cox in recent media. And, as the Disney+ launch nears, Defenders rumors are on the rise. With all that’s happened in recent weeks concerning Charlie Cox’s character, there’s reason to believe that this iteration of Daredevil could return to the Marvel screens.
And there’s at least one site putting it out there. We Got This Covered is making the bold statement that Daredevil, at the very least, will make a return for the MCU Disney + programming.
Defenders Media Mentions
We reported earlier about Charlie Cox showing up at New York Comic Con Stan Lee tribute and putting on the iconic Matt Murdock glasses.
He also showed up at a #savedaredevil meetup that same weekend. Then there was a slurry of celebs from the MCU, Clark Gregg and Tom Hiddleston, garnering support for the #savedaredevil movement.
Then, Aaron Paul went on Jimmy Kimmel’s Talk Show to promote his upcoming series El Camino. And he talked about dating Jessica Jones. Twice. Thus keeping the conversation in the media about the Netflix shows, and the characters themselves, going.
And keeping the conversation going. Just hours ago We Got this Covered is talking about having Mike Colter reprise his role as Luke Cage for a new Avengers team.
The only person Defender missing from the equation is Iron Fist. And, thanks to Scott Buck, no one will talk about Iron First thanks to its hilariously terrible first season and lackluster second season.
You add all of this up and the report coming out of We Got this Covered isn’t too surprising.
Another name we haven’t heard is Jon Bernthal in a Punisher MCU property. There is only one mention of him, about a week ago, being asked to reprise the character for a voice on an upcoming video game.
Defenders in Disney +
There’s some question about how the Defenders will fit in with the MCU for their content.
Bernthal’s Punisher is quite violent, a bit too much for Disney. But the Defenders proper, with some creative edits, still keeps a measure of their storyline. Just minus the tidbits of adult content.
Then there are reports that Marvel Television is going to transition out from live-action. The television division is instead going to focus their efforts on animated shows.
Infamously, Netflix had cancelled all of the live-action titles for the Defenders. Netflix announced cancellation of Jessica Jones, Punisher, Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist one after another.
There was no indication about the reasons for the cancellation. And now the internet is ablaze with theories that the MCU proper actually wanted these characters in their streaming content.
Marvel On Hulu and Freeform
The Ghost Rider spinoff originally reported for Hulu got shut down. Also Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has its final season. A third season of Runaways will premiere on Hulu in December, and Cloak & Dagger are set to cross over in the series. The latter characters will have a second season for their own show on the Freeform network.
Just a rumor, but it sounds like the unpopular Marvel TV stuff will definitely be rebooted (like Inhumans and possibly Iron Fist), while the more popular characters could live on in the MCU either in movies or on Disney+… pic.twitter.com/MHFg9NDggQ

What’s Next For Marvel Defenders
What’s next for the Defenders is uncertain. However, there is clearly an online campaign to get some of those characters back on screen in the MCU.
It’s only a matter of time before get to see if Marvel Studios was listening to the online fandom.
