Star Trek Actor Jonathan Frakes Wants To Appear on The Orville

Star Trek: The Next Generation actor Jonathan Frakes indicated he wants to appear in Seth McFarlane’s The Orville.

Frakes recorded a video for the YouTube Channel Orville Nation where he made it abundantly clear he hopes to have a role in The Orville in the future.

Frakes stated, “I’m hoping at some point that I can appear on Orville. Perhaps in full alien regalia.”

He is no stranger to The Orville. He’s directed two episodes of the show. He first directed Season 1 Episode 5 “Pria” and would return to direct Season 2 Episode 12 “Sanctuary.”

Jonathan Frakes starred as Commander William T. Riker on Star Trek: The Next Generation as well as a number of Star Trek films including First Contact, Insurrection, and Nemesis. He also directed a number of Star Trek: The Next Generation episodes as well as Deep Space Nine and Voyager. He also directed First Contact and Insurrection.

He previously directed three episodes of Star Trek: Discovery.

While Frakes has hopes of starring in The Orville as an alien, he is returning to Star Trek. He will reprise his role as William Riker in the upcoming Star Trek: Picard series. Not only will he return as Riker, but he also directed episodes three and four of the first season.

Frakes will reunite with other cast members of Star Trek: The Next Generation in the Picard series including Patrick Stewart, Marina Sirtis, Brent Spiner, Jeri Ryan, and Jonathan Del Arco.

Star Trek: Picard debuts on CBS All Access on January 23, 2020. Meanwhile The Orville finds a new home on Hulu for Season 3.  It previously aired on Fox. Season 3 will not hit Hulu until the end of 2020.
