The actress behind the Force-adept Togrutan’s live-action appearance offered this status update on her possible return to the role during an appearance on the January 4th episode of Dagobah Dispatch, a Star Wars-centric podcast produced by Entertainment Weekly and hosted by the outlet’s Devan Coggan and Dalton Ross.

Joining the pair to specifically discuss her time on Ahsoka, Dawson’s time on the show [Time Stamp: 16:07] began with Coggan asking their guest, “How are you feeling now that the show is out there?”, to which the actress asserted, “It’s been insane. It’s been amazing.”

“I remember I got like, a picture from Dave [Filoni] of like a girl dressed up like Ahsoka, he just kinda sent it, and I was like ‘Okay, that’s so sweet,” recalled Dawson. “And then I get this video of a pre-screening of the first two episodes that was like, worldwide, and people were showing up completely dressed up, there were step and repeats [the industry name for the patterned backdrops in front of which attendees to a given event take photographs], there were whole audiences with lightsabers and stuff, it brought tears to my eyes. I hadn’t even seen the first two episodes yet, I had to watch the show with everyone else and wait for it to drop so that I could watch it, because the studio couldn’t coordinate with us, and I just remember that it really took my breath away. Like, this is so huge.”

“And the fact that it did so well without us being able to do any promotion just speaks volumes to this world, and this story, and just how much it means to people, and has meant for generations,” further detailed the former Marvel Netflix actress of her experience in a galaxy far, far away. “And to see it kind of from afar – I’ve literally been sort of not shaking with anxiety, it’s just had me so emotional. It’s really had me so emotional these past few months. And I am just so grateful for all the feedback and people championing it when we couldn’t.”

“I’ve been screenshotting pictures for people, and loving the reactions people have sent, and I’ve been really piecemeal about sharing behind the scenes [info] and photos,” added Dawson. “I still haven’t really done a few proper foot posts talking about how much the crew and the cast and the whole experience meant to me, because I’m still overwhelmed, honestly. like I don’t really know how to put it into words. And the fact that [Baylan Skoll actor] Ray [Stevenson] isn’t with us anymore and that [Lucasfilm costume designer] Shawna [Trpcic] isn’t with us anymore, it’s just been really emotional.”

In light of this unforeseen roller coaster of emotions, Dawson then declared that she was “grateful that we have the holidays to go into, because even now with the strike over, there’s no work, really, to be done, everyone’s at that point of ‘let’s circle back at the end of the year’ kind of thing, and I’m like, ‘Oh, thank god’, because I need a moment still to keep taking this all in and just seeing the reaction before jumping back into it again, which I hope we do, that we get to.”

Seizing upon the actress’ mention of “jumping back into it again”, Coggan then pressed her guest as to whether or not she has “had those conversations about getting back in the make-up chair and playing Ahsoka again?”, to which Dawson outright declared, “No.”

“We’re supposed to be having a dinner soon of the whole cast, which will be really nice because I haven’t seen everyone,” the actress detailed. “I was very jealous seeing everyone at some of these cons recently, which I wasn’t able to be at, so I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone.”

Notably, Dawson is not the first to make mention of the fact that Ahsoka’s small-screen return is far from a sealed deal.

On the day of the series’ first season finale, October 3rd, 2023, Deadline reporter Anthony D’Alessandro noted that per the outlet’s sources, while “some fans have speculated that Dave Filoni’s stand-alone feature film — a culmination of his Disney+/Lucasfilm universe of The Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka, etc. — centers around Thrawn, and that is poised to be next [we] hear that Ahsoka Season 2 is more of a reality in the conversation, though nothing is locked yet.”
