Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and Ewan McGregor confirmed a Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series.
While on stage, McGregor had Kennedy ask him if he would play Obi-Wan Kenobi again. He responded, “Yes.”
He would add, “Now, I can say yes, we are going to do it.”
Kennedy added, “We are really close. We have all the scripts written. We are ready to start shooting next year. We could not be more excited. Can’t wait to start production.”
No details about the plot of the show were released. One has to expect it will take place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.
The news about an Obi-Wan Kenobi show shouldn’t come as a surprise. Rumors had been swirling this entire year that the show was in development and would see McGregor reprise his role.
The rumors initially began back in May, but details about the show were scarce. (Related: Star Wars Rumor: Obi-Wan Kenobi Returning for Disney+ Show)
Those rumors would really heat up just a couple of weeks ago when Cinelinx reported that McGregor “has actually put pen to paper and inked a contract to return as the iconic Jedi Master.” (Related: Star Wars Rumor: Ewan McGregor To Return for Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ Series)
