Actress Tala Ashe will join Legends of Tomorrow as Zari Adrianna Tomaz or Isis, the embodiment of the Egyptian goddess and wife of Black Adam.
It’s quite possible Ashe’s character will be drastically different from any of Isis’ incarnations in the comics. Showrunner Marc Guggenheim spoke about a new character joining the show back in March, “We’re drawing on an established character who is not from the comics.” He elaborated, “Let me be very clear; not original to the show but not from the comics and not from any of the other DC Arrowverse shows.”
In the [easyazon_link identifier=”1401263259″ locale=”US” tag=”bounintocomi-20″]comics[/easyazon_link], Isis was reintroduced in 2006 as Adrianna Tomaz, a slave brought to Black Adam as a gift from the organized crime group Intergang. After eventually winning Black Adam over, he has Captain Marvel bestow upon her the Amulet of Isis which grants her the powers of Isis while also transforming her. The two eventually wed, but their marriage does not last very long as Intergang and Amanda Waller’s Suicide Squad bring about both the death of Adrianna and her brother, Amon.
However, before her death Isis wielded a multitude of powers from healing even the most severe wounds to control over nature in relation to her mood. She can summon rain when she’s sad and make flowers bloom when she is happy. She also wields powers similar to Black Adam when she uses the phrase “Oh Mighty Isis.”
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will return in the fall on Tuesday nights 9/8c on The CW.
This new season will see the Legends working to rebuild their team after they defeated Eobard Thawne and his nefarious Legion Doom. Their actions fractured the timeline and created anachronisms which forces Rip Hunter and his new Time Bureau to disband the Legends.
Mick Rory, Sara Lance, Ray Palmer, Nick Heywood, Martin Stein, Jefferson Jackson will reunite as the Legends and challenge Rip Hunter’s Time Bureau for authority over the timeline noting their methods may be sloppy, but some problems can only be fixed by the Legends.
