The Mandalorian Actor Katee Sackhoff Reveals The Storylines She Wants Explored In The Star Wars Show

The Mandalorian actor Katee Sackhoff recently did an interview where she revealed the storylines she wants to see explored in the Star Wars show.

Sackhoff spoke with ComicBook.com, where she discussed how she returned to the role of Bo-Katan in The Mandalorian and what her experience playing the character in live-action was like.

At one point during the interview, Sackhoff is asked, “Is there another animated character that you would love to see brought to life for The Mandalorian, either just to watch or to get to interact with?”

She responded saying, “I love Maul, I think he’s constantly coming back to life anyway.” She added, “He’s a really hard guy to kill, so you never know.”

“I think I would love to see some stuff with Pre Vizsla. That was such a fun storyline for Bo and it was such a fun glimpse into… for fans who haven’t seen Clone Wars and Rebels, Bo Katan didn’t necessarily start out on the right side of things. She thought she was,” she continued.

Sackhoff added, “I would recommend people go back and watch Clone Wars because you can understand what I’m talking about, and that is that time with Vizsla, which I think is important to who she is as a person and the growth that’s she’s gone through. I would love to see that.”

She would also discuss Bo-Katan’s relationship with her sister Satine, “I loved the dynamic between her sister. I love that. I love the idea that these are both women of royal blood, one became ruler and one didn’t. So it’s like, when you’re second in line, it never crosses your mind that you’re going to have to rule because the unthinkable has happened.”

“So when she lost her sister, that was a moment where you take this person who has been trained to be a warrior and make them realize that now they have to learn how to rule, which is not what Bo-Katan ever thought she was gonna have to be doing. I think those would be really fun things around Bo-Katan specifically to sort of go into, but that’s all flashback stuff,” Sackhoff concluded.

Sackhoff is right. This would be flashback stuff. If you are unfamiliar with Pre Vizsla, he was the leader of the Mandalorian terrorist organization known as Death Watch as well as the governor of the independent province of Concordia, where Mandalorian warriors from their civil war went after the war.

After making a number of failed attempts to take control of Mandalore by assassinating Dutchess Satine, Vizsla would eventually unite with Maul and his Shadow Collective. Under Maul’s leadership they would depose Satine and Vizsla would assume leadership imprisoning both Maul and his brother Savage Opress.

However, Maul and Opress would escape. Maul would challenge Vizsla for leadership and defeat him in one on one combat. He would then ruthlessly execute him.

If Pre Vizsla was to show up it would have to be in some kind of flashback with Bo-Katan. While The Mandalorian has shown some flashbacks when it comes to Din Djarin’s childhood, it has primarily maintained a straight-forward linear line of storytelling.

If Season 3 of The Mandalorian focuses more on Bo-Katan and the Darksaber, it’s possible there could be some kind of flashback where they bring back Vizsla to reinforce the retcon they introduced in the final episode of The Mandalorian Season 2.

That retcon came when Bo-Katan refuses to accept the Darksaber from Din Djarin. Moff Gideon explains, “She can’t take it. It must be won in battle. In order for her to wield the Darksaber again, she would need to defeat you in combat.”

He would add, “Oh, no. It doesn’t work that way. The Darksaber doesn’t have power. The story does. Without that blade, she’s a pretender to the throne.”

Bo-Katan confirmed Gideon’s comments saying, “He’s right.”

However, in Star Wars Rebels, Bo-Katan had previously received the Darksaber from Sabine Wren without defeating her in combat. A fact that if Disney Star Wars actually paid any attention to canon would nullify the entire point of the conversation that occurs in The Mandalorian.

As for Sackhoff’s comments on Bo-Katan’s relationship with Satine, she appears to be misremembering what happened. Bo-Katan had actually sided with Death Watch against her sister. She was one of Pre Vizsla’s lieutenants, who aided him in deposing Satine.

It’s not until Maul executes Pre Vizsla and claims leadership of the Death Watch and Mandalore that Bo-Katan rebels against him. After escaping Maul she does reunite with her sister and even attempts to free her. However, Mandalorian forces prevent their escape and Satine is placed back in prison, but not before they send a message to the Jedi Council.

Obi-Wan receives the message and is able to free Satine, but they are eventually caught and Maul executes Satine in front of Obi-Wan.

While Bo-Katan might have thought she would never be the leader given her sister was in charge, she actively rebelled against her sister under Pre Vizsla.

Not only that, but she did eventually contemplate being the leader of Mandalore before she accepts the Darksaber from Sabine Wren in Star Wars Rebels.

Honestly, these two ideas show a lack of imagination. They are looking back to the past, rather than looking to the future of the character.

As many fans have probably imagined, seeing how Bo-Katan might once again unite Mandalore in the aftermath of the Empire’s defeat at the Battle of Endor might be an interesting storyline.

Another one might be how she and her followers might deal with Din Djarin’s Children of the Watch.

What kind of stories would you want to see with Bo-Katan? What do you make of Sackhoff’s ideas for Bo-Katan?
