The 5 Greatest Punisher Fights!

Frank Castle aka the Punisher recently took over Netflix with a brand new television series. His vigilante style of justice was expertly captured in the show. And while Jigsaw was a worthy foe and the final battle between the two pretty stellar, it doesn’t come anywhere close to some of the fights the Punisher has had in the comics.

The Punisher first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #129 by Gerry Conway, John Romita, and Ross Andru in 1974. While he was originally introduced as a Spider-Man antagonist, the Punisher quickly became one of Marvel’s most popular antiheroes. He has a rigid moral code that operates outside of many of Marvel’s other superheroes. He deals ruthlessly with criminals and is known for permanently ending them in order to protect the innocent. He doesn’t have any superpowers, but relies on his extreme discipline as well as learning from his mistakes in order to overcome the odds and bring punishment to his foes.

The Punisher’s combat prowess and his ruthless code have created some of the best fights in Marvel Comics entire history. We’ve recounted the top five fights the Punisher has ever had.

Do you agree with Troy’s five greatest Punisher fights? Or do you think he’s had better fights?

We’ve already gotten to see at least one of these fights adapted in Marvel’s Daredevil Season 2, when the Punisher made his vicious entrance. Do you think we might see the two come into conflict again in the upcoming Daredevil Season 3 or the Punisher Season 2?

The Punisher was renewed for a second season on Netflix back in December. If it follows the pattern of Daredevil, it’s more than likely we could see Jon Bernthal back as the Punisher in October 2018. There aren’t many details on the upcoming season, but if it again follows Daredevil, it’s more than likely that Ben Barnes’ Jigsaw will only have a minor role in the upcoming season. Kingpin, who was the primary protagonist in the first season of Daredevil only played a minor role in the second. He’s expected to play a much larger role in the upcoming third season. In fact, showrunner Steve Lightfoot teased two new villains who could really cause some trouble for Frank Castle.
