Avengers: Endgame Star Gwyneth Paltrow Launches “Goopfellas” Podcast To Help Men Fight “Toxic Masculinity”

Avengers: Endgame star Gwyneth Paltrow has found a new cultural crusade. She will take on “toxic masculinity” in her new podcast called “Goopfellas.”

This is part of a series of new products from her lifestyle brand Goop. The brand has seen its fair share of controversy in the past when Harley Street nutritionist Rhiannon Lambert condemned the brand’s weightloss advice from celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson as “extremely damaging” and “has the potential to harm a lot of relationships with food.”

The “Goopfellas” podcast will focus on helping men achieve physical and/or mental health transformations. Goop’s chief content officer, Elise Loehnen spoke to Fast Company last week about the podcast, stating, “It feels like we’re at a point in the culture where men are rejecting that sort of toxic masculinity.” She added, “We wanted to do something that was more about the emotional health of men, the importance of vulnerability, and this acknowledgment of how hard these things can be.”

Fast Company indicates the podcast will highlight intervention stories in order “to help men feel less alone and more comfortable with a process unfamiliar to them.” Loehnen notes, “I think men are really hungry for that.”

It will also “investigate physical health alongside spiritually, mental health and relationships.” Loehnen elaborates:

“It’s all connected, that’s where we come from. I think men are starting to realize, I can go to the gym and I can put butter in my coffee, but I am profoundly unhappy or I feel like I have no purpose in my life. Wellness is really a combination that touches on all of those things.”

The first episode made its debut last week and was hosted by celebrity chef Seamus Mullen and functional medical practitioner Dr. Will Cole. Nutrafol  startup founder Girgos Tsetis joined them as a guest and moderator.

Gwyneth Paltrow took to Instagram to highlight this in a post you can see below:

The title of the show was “The Warrior Construct.” This episode had the pair interview former NFL linebacker Keith Mitchell, who became a major practitioner of both yoga and meditation after he fell victim to a devastating football injury back in 2003. The injury left the former pro-footballer partially paralyzed.

Mullen indicated he wanted to spread the word that “it’s okay for guys to take care of themselves; it’s not unmanly.”

The “Goopfellas” podcast comes a year after Gwyneth Paltrow launched her own podcast called “The Goop Podcast.” It sees the actress interviewing people on the subjects of both general health and wellbeing. She has had the likes of former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz and Oprah Winfrey on her program.
