Black Widow actress Scarlett Johansson throws support behind Elizabeth Warren for 2020 Presidential election.
Scarlett Johansson revealed her choice for the upcoming 2020 Presidential election in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Johansson revealed she is supporting Elizabeth Warren.
Johansson explained her support for Warren:
“She feels like someone who is thoughtful and progressive but realistic.”
She added:
“It’s not like her campaign is making these crazy, outlandish promises that seem impossible to reach. There’s a strategy there.”
Johansson isn’t just talking the talk. She put her money where her mouth is with a maximum contribution to Warren’s bid to be the Democrat Party candidate back in July.
She also detailed that even if Warren ends up losing the Democratic primary she will support the Democrat candidate, “I’ll be there however I’m needed.”
She adds:
“If I can help with voter engagement, whether it’s doing some sort of PSA campaign or actively trying to involve people in the process of registering and voting. I really believe if people actually did vote, our government would look the way it’s supposed to, but people just don’t vote. It baffles me.”
When asked if it was too early to throw support behind a specific candidate, Johansson disagreed, “That kind of worries me because it doesn’t feel that early to me. I’m like, ‘Really?’ It’s disconcerting that there’s not a clear candidate at this time.”
Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow will hit theaters May 1st, 2020.
