Daredevil actress Rosario Dawson recently declared that she is part of the LGBTQ community.
In an interview with Bustle, Dawson clarified an Instagram post from 2018 and then revealed she’s officially coming out as a member of the LGBTQ community.
That Instagram post saw Dawson celebrate Pride month. She wrote, “happy pride month! sending love to my fellow lgbtq+ homies. keep being strong in the face of adversity. loud & proud🌈🤟🏾 here’s a lil throwbyke to last year. ✨”

When asked about the Instagram post, Dawson indicated it was not meant to be a coming out post, but that she is coming out now. She stated, “People kept saying that I [came out]… I didn’t do that.”
Dawson then added, “I mean, it’s not inaccurate, but I never did come out come out. I mean, I guess I am now.”
However, she added, “I’ve never had a relationship in that space, so it’s never felt like an authentic calling to me.”

While on the subject of relationships, Dawson spoke a bit about her current relationship with former presidential candidate Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey. She mentions that when it comes to that relationship it was a first for her in terms of being “responsible about my choice of love.”
“It’s the first time I felt like I had to be responsible about my choice of love, which is a challenging thing to do. If you fall in love, you fall in love. But there’s another aspect I had to consider: what this meant in [putting] a microscope on my family and particularly on my daughter.”
Dawson added, “But in each other I think we found our person.”
This past Valentine’s Day, the actress shared a video of her and Sen. Booker titled “Spread The Love Unconditional.”
She also shared a photo of her and Booker writing, “Get you a Valentine that looks at you like this-even if that means grabbing a mirror…! Wishing everyone the greatest love today and always.”
Back in April, Dawson also shared a picture of her and Booker kissing. She wrote, “My love, I’m always impressed with how you exude such grace and civility while expressing your passion and brilliance in response to these tumultuous times.”
She added, “I’m so grateful for your voice and dedication. Your love lifts us all up. Thank you. You and your team continue to grow humanity and build community daily, giving me faith that indeed We Will Rise. I see you. I love you!”
Dawson currently plays Allegra Dill in the TV series Briarpatch. She is also expected to take the lead role in HBO Max’s upcoming series DMZ based off the Vertigo comic book series by Brian Wood.
Dawson is slated to play medic Alma Ortego who has to navigate an America that finds itself embroiled in a civil war in order to find her son. Along the way she will she will face off with gangs, militias, demagogues, and warlords in a lawless land.
The show is being helmed by Ava DuVernay who will executive produce alongside showrunner and writer Robert Patino.
