Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista, who plays Drax, responded to James Gunn being fired by Disney for a number of tweets where he’s being accused of promoting “child rape.”

Bautista took to Twitter to respond:

Gunn had issued his own statement where he described his past Tweets as “totally failed and unfortunate efforts to be provocative.” He never apologized for the Tweets, but he did say he “take[s] full responsibility for the way I conducted myself then.” He would only offer his “sincere and heartfelt regret.”

Disney studio boss Alan Horn issued the statement confirming Gunn had been fired from Disney and removed from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. He explained the main reasoning for firing Gunn was due to “the offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James’ Twitter feed.” He would go on to describe them as “indefensible and inconsistent with out studio’s values.”

Sony Pictures also removed James Gunn from their San Diego Comic-Con Hall H panel last night which focused on Venom and Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.

What do you make of Bautista’s comments? Do you think Disney should have fired James Gunn? Do you think a criminal investigation should be opened into James Gunn to determine the veracity of the accusations being made against him?
