Former Games of Thrones actor, Richard Madden revealed he dreads doing sex scenes.
In an interview with Elle while promoting his upcoming film, Rocketman, the thirty-two-year-old Scottish actor, known best for playing Robb Stark on Game of Thrones, talked about trying to break out of his good guy image.
Madden, who plays Elton John’s former lover and manager John Reid in Rocketman, noted that he dreads doing sex scenes.
“I dread doing these things.”
He would elaborate that it doesn’t matter whether the scene is with male or female costars.
“With one you get stubble rash, right? That’s basically it. Otherwise, there’s no difference. It’s storytelling.”
As for his role as John Reid, Madden noted he enjoyed breaking out of his “good guy at heart” role, “I really enjoyed being a bastard.”
Reid was Elton John’s manager up until 1998 when John cut ties with him. The two would eventually go to court over financial disputes, but would reach a settlement out of court. Reid is currently retired from the music business and lives in Australia.
Madden did note that he doesn’t really see himself in any of the characters he’s played including Robb Stark on HBO’s Game of Thrones and David Budd in Netflix’s The Bodyguard.
“It’s incredible to think about me in one of them. I don’t like it one bit!”
However he would add, “I suppose there’s a thing with a lot of these characters I play—to do the right thing, to look after people. I suppose that is something.”
Madden stars alongside Taron Egerton, who plays Elton John in Rocketman. The film hits theaters on May 31st.
