Jean-Claude Van Damme and Green Power Ranger Jason David Frank Duke It Out at Comic Con!

After decades long beef, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Green Power Ranger/MMA fighter Jason David Frank confronted each other at La Mole Comic Con in Mexico City.

The two stars have been at each othe’s throats since 1995 when Jean-Claude Van Damme and Frank had words during the premiere of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie in 1995. Back then. The feud continued and in 2010, Frank challenged Jean-Claude to a fight in 2010.

However, the tension boiled over at La Mole Comic Con when the two confronted each other.

The Blast reports Frank was asked to share his green room with Jean-Claude and his 20-person entourage. Frank was skeptical about the arrangement, but agreed. However, when Jean-Claude’s handler asked Frank to come take a photo with Van Damme, his suspicions were aroused. He gave Jean -Claude the benefit of the doubt, hoping they could finally bury their decades long feud.

But that’s not what happened at all. It appears the entire incident was “all a setup.” Jean-Claude approached Frank with the cameras rolling and demanded an apology for calling him out in 2010 and then challenged Frank to a fight on the spot saying, “Let’s throw down.”

While the two never came to actual blows. They were right up in each other’s faces. You can ever hear Frank make fun of Van Damme when he name drops his friend, Chuck Zito. Zito famously beat up Van Damme in a New York strip club in the 90s.

Frank tells The Blast, where you can watch the video, that Van Damme froze up when he actually tried to fight him. After the two tossed insults and words at each other, security eventually broke the two up.

However, the video appears to show Frank as the aggressor as he gets right up in Jean-Claude’s face.

Jason David Frank took to Facebook to provide more context to the dispute:

People told me to never meet your heroes because they will disappoint you. It’s unfortunate that this happened in 1995. Despite the fact, I’ll always be a big fan of his movies. I’m not holding a grudge. I think it’s better to be professional and offer to fight in the cage not at a comic con.

Frank then goes on to thank his fans and tells them, “I thought you should all hear it from me rather then (sic) seeing it online.”

Jean-Claude has not commented on the altercation and it’s unclear if he will release any footage of the incident.
