Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War promotional material continues to leave out Hawkeye, one of the core members of the original Marvel Cinematic Universe Avengers squad. We didn’t even get to see him in the most recent Avengers: Infinity War trailer.
In fact, Hawkeye’s absence has turned into a running gag for many fans.
Twitter user Darren Brazil tweeted out an Avengers: Infinity War poster asking fans to retweet if they could spot Hawkeye. He would proceed to say the Tweet wouldn’t get any retweets because Hawkeye isn’t featured in the poster.
RETWEET IF YOU CAN SPOT HAWKEYE.
(Hint: this will get 0 retweets because he’s not there… again) pic.twitter.com/tlTXgPZAHb

That’s when Todd Northcutt added his own thoughts calling Hawkeye “boring.” He would add, “Even if he was there you would overlook him.”
He’s boring. Even if he was there you would overlook him.

And that’s when Jeremy Renner, who plays Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, chimed in.
Renner told Todd Northcutt, “Omg… You’re right!!!!! Next time , I’ll stay home so at least I’m comfy as I’m bored and overlooked.”

Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye debuted in Thor and would go onto join the Avengers in The Avengers. He would continue to support the superhero team in Avengers: Age Of Ultron. Finally he would choose Captain America’s team in Captain America: Civil War.
Hawkeye’s role in Avengers: Infinity War still remains a mystery. However, directors Joe and Anthony Russo have confirmed he’s on “his own journey in this movie.”
Joe Russo explains:
“Coming out of Civil War, he’s in the same position that Cap and Falcon are at the end of that movie. And Ant-Man. Coming into this movie, you know… Characters on Cap’s side coming out of the Civil War, some made certain decisions and others made other decisions that led to different paths in them dealing with oversight in this movie in a different way. So Hawkeye’s on his own journey in this movie.”
And Anthony Russo adds:
“Yeah. He has a unique reaction to the civil war situation that puts him in a special spot in this film.”
An Avengers: Infinity War prelude comic indicates Hawkeye has retired after Captain America: Civil War and returned to take care of his family. But a number of photos have shown Jeremy Renner dressed like Ronin, which was a persona Clint Barton took on in the comics.
We’ll find out for sure what happens to Hawkeye in Avengers: Infinity War. In the meantime I’m going to continue enjoying Jeremy Renner’s epic take down.
